Bushra Khurshid, Occupational Psychologist and Lecturer
Bushra Khurshid is an Occupational Psychologist with over 16 years of experience in enhancing workplace dynamics, promoting employee well-being, and supporting individuals in advancing to senior leadership roles. Before transitioning into psychology, she spent 20 years working in the public sector, gaining a wealth of experience across various roles.
While working as a Civil Servant and raising three young children, Bushra pursued her education as a mature student, earning a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, an MSc in Occupational Psychology, and a PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education. Her research has explored key topics, such as Learning and Development implementation in the corporate sector, the benefits of the 360-degree appraisal system, human error in relation to human-computer interaction, and children’s understanding of science.
Throughout her career, Bushra has worked with a diverse range of organisations, from large corporations to small businesses, helping them develop strategies that foster positive work environments and increase productivity. She specialises in conducting comprehensive workplace assessments, designing and delivering training programmes, and advising on leadership and change management. Bushra also guides individuals in using their Personal Development Plans (PDPs) effectively, helping them climb the corporate ladder and reach senior leadership positions.
Bushra is passionate about helping people achieve their full potential, believing that no one should settle for less. Since people spend a significant portion of their lives at work, she advocates that true satisfaction comes from doing meaningful work and enjoying what you do. She is committed to fostering positive employer-employee relationships, where staff are valued, and employers benefit from engaged, motivated teams.
Outside of her professional life, Bushra is a keen public and motivational speaker. She covers a wide range of topics, including Violence Against Women and Girls, Studying as a Mature Student, Dementia Awareness in the BME community, School Choices for Senior School Students, Bystander Intervention, and other psychology-related themes. She has spoken at council events, on television for Islam Channel, in further education colleges, and for local women’s organisations.
In her spare time, Bushra enjoys reading (mainly non-fiction), following world politics, watching Bollywood films and biographical documentaries, visiting scenic locations to watch the sunrise and sunset, walking, and spending quality time with her daughters.
