Dr Penny Haughan: Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost at Liverpool Hope University
BOIGRAPHY:
Dr Penny is Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost at Liverpool Hope University and has strategic responsibility for the whole Student Experience. Her portfolio covers Schools Outreach through to Graduation and beyond. She also has responsibility for corporate communications and marketing, student records, learning resources and Learning and Teaching.
Penny also works closely with the Academic Schools and has overall responsibility for Quality Assurance & Enhancement, including meeting conditions of registration related to academic quality and performance. She is responsible for oversight of the University’s interactions with external bodies such as the OfS and compliance with their requirements. She is also Chair of the Senate Academic Committee.
The term ‘Provost’ which is added to the DVC title reflects her responsibility for the University’s International strategy and that she regularly represents the VC in interactions with International partners.
Penny is passionate about supporting Women at the University and is currently championing a University wide initiative to encourage their progression into leadership posts.
Penny has two daughters, she has worked full time throughout her career and has considerable experience of juggling academic life with motherhood. She is proud of the fact that both of her daughters have graduated! She is also Chair of Governors at a local primary school and has just accepted a Governors post at a University in London.
